Young heroes making a dent in their (difficult and traumatic) world.

They are the future. Children. All of our children. The ones who live next door, and the ones who live miles away or across the oceans. And these children need encouragement and support so that they can make the world better, one child at a time.

Children have fresh ideas, the stamina to act, and the hope for a better future, no matter how dark things may seem at times.

Meet Lamees Ahmed. Lamees is 11 and she is doing something about the mounting garbage problem in Gaza (the result of 15 years of Israeli blockade, suffocation, and isolation). And the best part is that she has taught her family, siblings, and friends, too. Building connections, strengthening family bonds, having some fun and doing something about the garbage.

It’s not always about the novelty of an idea, it’s about making a decision and taking action. The true judge of character is to make it happen on the ground and to inspire others to do the same.
