Urgent update from Jabalia, Gaza
The urgent update from Jabalia refugee camp is horrifying. Hundreds of people killed by Israeli bombs and thousands more encircled and trapped by the Israeli military. The destruction in Jabalia, which lies to the north of Gaza city, was already devastating.
Pictured here, in June 2024, is Issa Saaba the director of Canaan Institute of New Pedagogy. In the background you can see the extent of the destruction from Israeli aerial bombardments.
The damage wreaked on the camp through ground and air is now catastrophic.
Before this onslaught, our amazing team was baking bread and vegetable pastries for 100 families every day.
This week tens of thousands of people – children, men and women – are being forced to flee their homes and shelter through a single street. The scenes, say those people, are apocalyptic.
Following the start of the assault, our team from Canaan Institute set up another soup kitchen. It now serves from Shati area, where many children and their families from Jabalia are now displaced.
They provided us with the latest urgent update from Jabalia. The team there are providing about 250 children who have fled from the horrors of Jabalia to Sahleb, a delicious milk pudding dessert, and essentials like bread.
Although these children are living through constant fear and intensely difficult daily challenges to get basic food and keep clean, they are resilient.
Thank you to all our supporters whose generous gifts are going straight to help these children and families in urgent need.
