Update: emergency support to children in Gaza
Our teams across Gaza are facing some of the hardest conditions to deliver food, emergency cash, art and games workshops for children. From Gaza City to Rafah, here’s a snapshot of some of the extraordinary work they are doing to bring moments of hope and play to Gaza’s children.
Games and sports activities
In northern Gaza, games and activities for children provided by our partner teams at Canaan Institute provide moments of normality.
Running around and playing team games seems like a very simple activity but against the backdrop of near total destruction of homes, schools and play areas in northern Gaza, this is a moment unlike any other in these children’s days.
As this bright little boy says: “It’s a great and fun day, we enjoyed it!”
This video was recorded in early October 2024.
Art and activities
The Canaan Institute team is also running sessions for children with their mothers.
These sessions support their emotional and mental well-being, when they have been forced to leave their homes and are surrounded by destruction.
Mothers who are taking part in these activities in northern Gaza say it gives them hope.
“We want to feel some security [amid the destruction] but we still have hope. We would like to find some relief from the circumstances we are facing.”
