From 3-10 December, every donation to Hope and Play’s Big Give Christmas Challenge appeal will be matched, doubling your donation at no extra cost.

More than a year of relentless bombing has left Gaza’s children terrified, hungry, and in constant fear. Over the past year, 14,100 children have lost their lives, and many more face the daily trauma of hunger, violence, and loss. Nearly 20,000 children are missing, and those who survive bear the heavy burden of grief and uncertainty.

Our dedicated team of educators and artists, many of whom have been displaced themselves, continue to work in makeshift shelters—homes, tents, churches, and schools. Despite the challenges of finding basic necessities, their resourcefulness and resilience inspire hope.

Mona, a teacher in Gaza, shares: “Every day, I see how education becomes a refuge for children. It’s not just learning; it’s survival, resilience, and hope.”

Issa Saaba, the director of the Canaan Institute – our partner organisation, puts it profoundly: “We are creating life,” in places where the Israeli military bombardment has decimated it.

Your support helps provide:

  • Emergency food and water relief and trauma care
  • Educational programmes in Arabic, Maths, and English
  • Therapeutic activities and moments of joy through art and play

Give online between 3rd and 10th December and your donation will be matched, doubling your impact and helping children rediscover hope.

Basel, co-founder of Shababeek Centre – a Hope and Play partner organisation in Gaza – says: “Laughter and colours become acts of defiance against fear and war. We draw, play, and create moments of joy, protecting the innocence of our children.”

From midday on 3rd December to midday on 10th December all donations made to our Big Give appeal will be doubled by generous match donors.

They believe in the importance of our work. Their match funding means every pound you give will have double the impact for children in Gaza.
